Bio

Robert T. Downs, Esq. is a seasoned attorney at Cox Law Group, Inc. whose practice is focused on estate planning, trust administration, and probate. In 2008, Robert began working for Moore, Bryan & Schroff as an associate attorney. From 2008 to 2017, Robert practiced exclusively in the area of Family Law, assisting clients reach resolution of their child and spousal support issues, division of property, and other complex matters involved in their dissolutions of marriage. In 2017, his practice expanded to include trust litigation. Robert’s family law and trust litigation practice continued until 2020, at which time he focused his practice on estate planning, probate, and trust administration. In 2024, Robert continued his estate planning practice as a partner of Schroff & Downs, PC until merging his practice with Cox Law Group, Inc. in January 2026.

Throughout his career, Robert has dedicated himself to diligently helping his clients weather difficult storms in their lives, whether that was during a contentious divorce or through the grief that comes from losing a loved one. He brings that same dedication to helping his clients plan for their families, their futures, and their legacies.

Robert earned his Juris Doctor from the USC Gould School of Law in 2003. Prior to law school, Robert graduated summa cum laude from the University of Southern California with a bachelor’s degree in psychology in 2000.

Robert has been licensed to practice law in California since 2004 and is a member of the California Bar Association, South Bay Bar Association, Los Angeles County Bar Association, and the South Bay Estate Planning Council.
